Kovago Voice Studio & Dr. Andrea Kovago

Dr. Andrea Kovago, lyric mezzo soprano comes to us from Calgary Alberta, Canada. A sought after performer throughout the United States and Canada, has performed steadily in the areas of opera, oratorio, chamber music and numerous solo and collaborative recitals throughout her career.

Equally at home in opera venues and recitals, Dr. Kovago has often been a featured soloist with many distinguished organizations such as, The Oratorio Society of Minnesota, Bach Society of Minnesota, Exultate Chamber Choir and Orchestra, Minnetonka Choral Society, Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, and Kensington Sinfonia in Calgary, Le Choeur Québecois, Société philharmonique de Montréal, L’Ensemble Con Brio de Montréal and Le Choeur de Chambre du Québec.

Dr. Kovago made her recording debut in March of 2002. Since then, she has recorded three more compact disks featuring her as alto soloist in such works as Bach’s B minor Mass, Bach’s Magnificat and Mozart’s Requiem, which are readily available at www.amazon.com or www.exultate.org.

Alongside her professional endeavours and since establishing herself in Ottawa eight years ago, Dr. Kovago has spent much of her time working with singers and pianists of all ages, in far reaching communities like Russell and Kanata, as well with clients closer to her home in Orleans.

Dr. Kovago is a distinguished and well-respected voice teacher as well as an avid member of several professional affiliations. She has taught in numerous university and college settings all the while maintaining her private voice studio.. This year marks the 30th year of Dr. Kovago’s teaching career!  

She continues to work with, mentor, coach and adjudicate many aspiring singers and pianists, of which several have won countless 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards in both NATS and the Kiwanis Music Festival over the years. In the spring of 2019, two of her students proudly won the 2019 Goya Canadian Musical Theatre Award and the Miriam Anderson Trophy respectively.

Over the years, many of Dr. Kovago’s fine singers have also been accepted into several prestigious music and voice programs throughout Canada and the United States. Such schools include, Eastman School of Music, Manhattan School of Music, New York, The University of Toronto, Dalhousie University, McGill and then AMDA (American Musical and Dramatic Academy).

Her piano students have repeatedly achieved several first class-honours with distinction and honours awards for their examinations with the Royal Conservatory of Music.

Dr. Kovago is also a member of the College of Examiners with the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
